|ΚΑΡΥΔΙ – KARYDI
According to legend, the “golden age” when people lived on the oaks, the gods lived on walnuts. From there the walnut named Juglans derived from the words “Jovis glans” – glans of Jupiter. This tree was known from ancient times for its medicinal properties and indicate the name Nuts or Karyon.Kounaki winery produces the liqueur from fresh walnuts in our area and small quantities of spices and herbs which completes the flavor. No artificial flavors added.
|ΣΟΥΜΑ – SOUMA
Souma is a traditional drink made from figs or grapes. After the alcoholic fermentation the brewed juice is distilled in traditional distillers twice for smoother taste and aroma. It is consumed before the meal to stimulate appetite.
|ΤΡΙΑΝΤΑΦΥΛΛΟ – TRIANTAFILO
Eros, the Greek god of love, his name an anagram of “rose”, is credited with giving the world’s first rose. Kounaki winery takes the aroma out of seven different aromatic rose varieties with natural extraction. Roses were in such high demand during the seventeenth century that royalty considered roses or rose water a legal tender, and they were often used as barter and for payments.
|OYZO – OUZO
Ouzo is a distilled mixture of ethanol, water and various aromatic herbs which include mostly aniseed. Ouzo, in contrast with souma, is usually a small percentage of distillate. According to the legislation, this figure is at least 20%, percentage is an indicator of quality and therefore Kounaki winery, apart from the excellent quality raw materials and production processes, produces ouzo flavored by distillation at 100%.
|BOTANA – VOTANA
The word liqueur emanates from latin “liquifacere” that it means I dissolve. In the pages of history the liqueurs are presented as pharmaceutical products of mixture herbs dissolved in alcohol, for the confrontation of illnesses and diseases of organism. The Kounaki winery prepared liqueurs with base alcohol from grapes which distillated with herbs that are native our region without artificial flavors and color.
|ΡΑΚΟΜΕΛΟ – RAKOMELO
Rakomelo is made of souma, honey and several spices such as cinnamon, cardamom and other local herbs. Mostly consumed in winter as a warm drink.
|ΜΑΣΤΙΧΑ – MASTICHA
Published medical studies have proved that masticha contains antioxidants, contributes in the buccal health, acts as an antimicrobial because the ethereal oil (mastiche oil), and helps prevent ant treatment of diseases peptic system.
Kounaki winery prepares this liqueur with base alcohol from grapes which distillated with gum Chios. Without artificial flavors and color.
